Job summary

Manage highly technical projects to successful completion from initiation through delivery to closure. Red Hat's Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a senior-level Telco Program Manager with a full understanding of industry-standard project management practices and familiarity navigating complex IT projects to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you'll work with stakeholders within the CEE team to coordinate cross-functional teams on projects of diverse scope. You’ll help instill an organizational project management discipline and serve as an ambassador and evangelist for the adoption of project management fundamentals, principles, and methodologies throughout the CEE team. In addition to project management experience in a complex and global technical organization, you’ll need to have a collaborative mindset and passion for motivating the workplace.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Under minimal direction, lead project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities for Red Hat’s CEE projects

  • Control project requirements, scope, and change management issues

  • Determine, monitor, and review all project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk

  • Work with management to develop project proposals, charters, estimates, and schedules

  • Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to projects that you manage

  • Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria

  • Develop detailed communications and reporting procedures for projects

  • Manage project change using repeatable methodologies and clear communication with project stakeholders

  • Undertake status review meetings among project team members and stakeholders

  • Integrate and use specific industry and company-standard project management (PM) and technical delivery methodologies, like the PM methodologies based on Project Management Institute (PMI) standards and the CEE project management life cycle

  • Assist in the training of the project team on application of appropriate procedures and advise team members to accomplish project goals to meet established schedules and resolve technical and operational issues

  • Coach and mentor junior-level project managers when necessary

Required skills

  • 8+ years in a project or program management role, managing complex technical programs and projects

  • Practical experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly in a technical role

  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Record of successfully managing high-complexity programs in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams

  • Experience managing both agile and waterfall-style projects

  • Experience with establishing and contributing to process improvements

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; solid interpersonal and leadership skill and analytical abilities

  • Ability to work effectively across a widely diverse management team, as well as a broad spectrum of internal partners

  • Detail-oriented and able to work in a very fast-paced environment

  • Ability to articulate the program and project management value proposition and serve as an evangelist for PM techniques and CEE PM methodologies

  • PRINCE2, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Certified Scrum Master, Six Sigma, MSPM, or Prosci certifications are a plus

  • Experience with IT support management methodologies and techniques is a plus
