The Red Hat Platform Marketing team is looking for a very senior technical marketeer as the Senior Principal Product Marketing Manager to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you’ll guide the technical marketing agenda for our Red Hat OpenStack Platform or Red Hat Virtualization. This includes working closely with product marketing, product management, engineering, solution design, and our technical field community (solutions architects, consultants, etc.) to craft the proper technical messaging and proof points within the modern-day market and competition offerings. Primary activities involve supporting a compelling marketing plan to guide success within the OpenStack, Virtualization, and cloud infrastructure solutions teams globally, including designing product demonstrations and technical content to help the field better sell the solutions. You'll help manage the technical requirements in support of the marketing plan and go to market activities, our sales strategies, and where appropriate our partners globally. Experience with OpenStack, Virtualization, and related cloud infrastructure solutions (storage, networking, management, etc) is required.
Primary job responsibilities
Collaborate with product management to understand and prioritize feature and solution definition; ensure marketing plans align with market directions and support the product roadmap and releases
Create technical marketing collateral (internal and external) with cloud infrastructure and virtualization marketing teams, including technical presentations, white papers, case studies, and more
Create and carry out solution demos external use with trade shows, customers, and more
Participate in technical aspects of go-to-market engagements like roadshows, workshops, webinars, product and solution demos, industry and partner events, as well as sales enablement and training
Collaborate with sales teams where required in high-touch accounts worldwide through close engagement with field sales and services
Be the infrastructure expert and ensure comprehensive understanding of the market’s current state of conditions through research and awareness of customer needs and competitive offerings
Guide technical innovative thinking across public domains, including blogs, web, social media, and other outbound marketing activities
Work with alliance and ecosystem partners (through the alliance teams) to develop joint value propositions
Create other technical marketing proof points (working with other teams) specific to performance benchmarks, reference architectures, etc.
10-15 years of related experience, preferably within an area of cloud infrastructure software solutions (operating system, cloud, virtualization) or systems administration
5+ years of product management experience, solution engineering, or solution architect experience
2-3 years of experience with Virtualization or OpenStack, including experience with service provider solutions, ISV partners, and/or distribution vendors
Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science; master’s degree or MBA is preferred
Product experience with Linux, OpenStack, KVM/Virtualization, containers, etc.
Domain knowledge and experience with open source projects, data center networking, and storage
Demonstrated track record of success in a fast moving, technical solutions environment
Solid communication skills especially in written, verbal, and presentation form
Solid technical knowledge, ability to explain customer technical requirements and use cases to engineering and product management teams
Success in working in an influence-driven cross-functional environment with a remote and global workforce
Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects at once while working in a highly complex environment
Ability to articulate the technical product value proposition and evangelize both solution and stand-alone products internally and externally
Network functions virtualization (NFV) knowledge is preferred
