Job summary

The Portfolio Product Marketing team is looking for a Senior Principal Portfolio Product Marketing Manager to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will guide the go-to-market strategy for cross-functional and cross-Portfolio solutions and initiatives. The team plays a critical role in Product and technology (PnT) communication, portfolio themes, field enablement, marketing content, and innovative thinking, among other areas. You’ll guide Red Hat’s cross-portfolio initiative relative to its market-leading application development platform solutions including application modernization, business process management, mobile application, and cloud-native container platforms. We’ll expect you to bring market intelligence and the voice of the customer to internal operations, helping Red Hat to apply its solutions and services to customer-focused stories that amplify our overall value. By connecting the right teams to work together, establishing consistency across themes and channels, you will expand Red Hat’s visibility as a technology leader and accelerate our ability to market and sell our cloud-native application development solutions.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Connect the right teams to collaborate across teams to expand Red Hat’s visibility as a technology leader and make it easier to market and sell our portfolio

  • Apply multiple services to customer-focused stories that amplify Red Hat’s value

  • Create messaging, positioning, and value proposition for leading cross-portfolio technologies and solutions

  • Develop messaging around customer challenges, key product and solution benefits, and competitive advantage

  • Align portfolio and thought leadership messaging while evangelizing best practices to ensure consistent delivery across themes and channels

  • Direct content for application development platform solutions including editorial, thought leadership, and social media content for use in PR, AR, customer, and partner engagement

  • Work with subject matter experts to define requirements for effective marketing assets and content, including whitepapers, presentations, case studies, solution briefs, web content, and sales kits that can be leveraged globally

  • Work with strategic partners where appropriate to align messaging and solutions and create materials that can be leveraged by all relevant partners (including Channel/VARs) for their marketing efforts

  • Work with Field Marketing to develop marketing programs and themes aimed at application development platform solutions

  • Define specific market sub-segments (personas, solutions opportunities, etc.) within the market, and ensure that the content and marketing plan supports the correct target business opportunity

  • Coordinate with various marketing teams including field, corporate, developer, and product and partner marketing to ensure successful and targeted implementation of various marketing activities

  • Guide enablement and training activities for sales, pre-sales, professional services, as well as for partners

  • Support customer meetings

  • Coordinate cross-organizational teams, actively ensuring that teams are synchronized concerning messaging, communication, schedules, issues, and other relevant areas

Required skills

  • 10+ years of software industry experience, preferably within an area of application development, infrastructure software, and systems management

  • Deep knowledge of the market including key players, market trends, key industry analysts, and technology direction

  • Understanding of open source software

  • 6+ years of product and solutions marketing experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, marketing, business, economics, or related area; MBA degree is preferred

  • Demonstrated track record of success in a fast-moving, technical environment including the ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly

  • Ability to develop compelling marketing programs and the requisite materials (themes, content, assets) associated with the program

  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills with keen ability to explain and translate complex technology concepts into simple and intuitive communications

  • Solid and charismatic presenter, and comfortable working with and presenting to all levels of an organization

  • Success in working in an influence-driven cross-functional environment

  • Ability to be meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects at once while working in a highly complex environment

  • Motivated with a solid work ethic

  • Experience with social media and digital marketing

  • Solid knowledge of content creation following the buyer’s journey

  • Willingness to travel

  • Metrics-focused and detail-oriented

  • Ability to manage complex projects collaboratively in a fast-paced environment working across multiple virtual teams

  • Unique combination of project management, product and solution marketing skills, and technical acumen

  • Successful track record of leading product marketing initiatives in a high tech area

  • Experience at both small and large company is prefered, with the ability to scale in a fast-growth environment
