The Portfolio Product Marketing team is looking for a Senior Principal Portfolio Competitive Intelligence Analyst to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you’ll be responsible for competitive intelligence and analysis to build market insights that help inform multiple aspects of our business and guide improved understanding and strategies in the field. You’ll monitor and evaluate emerging intelligence leads from all available internal and external sources and lead various projects to improve our understanding of the competitive landscape. This will include target segmentation, competitive positioning, and content creation to inform company strategy, positioning, demand generation, sales enablement, and evangelism activities. You will collaborate with product focused resources to build a center of excellence for competitive intelligence and establish channels that communicate applicable recommendations to internal stakeholders in time for the organization to respond to changing dynamics across the enterprise software landscape.
Primary job responsibilities
Collect, validate, analyze, and interpret a broad range of market-related data, including industry, financial, volume, market, and competitive insights needed to develop strategic business plans
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across the organization to develop processes, produce reports, and ensure stakeholder alignment
Create visualizations and dashboards to effectively communicate insights from various analyses
Develop innovative analytical methodologies to answer strategic business questions and vet new business opportunities across the organization
Implement best practices to ensure consistent delivery across themes and channels
Actively leverage data and information to deliver recommendations and action plans to help provide target cross-portfolio solutions and new opportunities for Red Hat
Partner with key stakeholders to formulate innovative solutions and key insights for intelligence-related activities
Ensure all intelligence data points are properly tracked and provide real-time information with focus on data integrity and data process optimization to easily communicate program updates and expected timelines
Contribute innovative and strategic ideas to help shape a relatively new team while continuing to guide impact across the organization
Support customer meetings and enablement and training activities for sales, pre-sales, professional services, as well as for partners
Bachelor’s degree, with a concentration in a quantitative field (e.g., math, finance, economics, statistics, physics, engineering, etc.)
3+ years of experience managing projects, market analytics, data analytics, or strategic planning
5+ years of data analysis, reporting, and forecasting work required in the enterprise software industry, preferably with an understanding of open source software
Deep knowledge of the enterprise software market including key players, market trends, key industry analysts, and technology direction
Metrics-focused and detail-oriented
Ability to be meet deadlines and juggle multiple complex projects at once while working in a highly complex, fast moving, technical environment
Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, and comfortable working with and presenting to all levels of an organization
Success in working in an influence-driven cross-functional environment
Active, motivated, with a solid work ethic and a bias for action
Proficiency in office suite tools, preferably Google suite, with advanced knowledge of spreadsheets (including pivot tables and function formulas for data comparison) and presentation creation
Ability to dig into and build a solid analytical understanding of key databases and data sets to develop higher-level stories and findings to support analytics related to capital investments and asset management
Ability to excel at working collaboratively and cross-functionally as part of a team to produce actionable market and competitive landscape insights
