Collaborate with Red Hat’s engineering teams to clarify requirements, overcome obstacles, and design clean, concise, and reliable software architecture. The Red Hat Subscription Services Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer with a passion for open source software to join us in Raleigh or Durham, NC. In this role, you will be a part of a project focused on a new initiative. You’ll need to have great technical and communication skills and experience with Python or other object-oriented technology. As a Software Engineer, you’ll also need to be comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.
Primary job responsibilities
Design and implement features in Python (including unit and integration tests) and contribute them upstream
Educate the team on new features by sprint reviews or small team presentations
Partner closely with the Quality Engineering (QE) team to ensure that contributions are tested correctly
Assist the professional services and technical support teams to troubleshoot customer problems and contribute to fast and successful resolutions
Work with stakeholders for acceptance of features and fine-tuning
Publicize the work the team is doing via blogs, web postings, or conference talks
2-3 years of software development experience preferably in Python
Experience with web-based applications, preferably through a REST APIs
Familiarity with solutions like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or OpenShift by Red Hat
Familiarity with various deployment models including cloud, virtualization, and containers
Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or other collaborative code forges
Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Passion for open source technologies; previous experience with open source communities and development is a plus
The following are considered a plus:
Experience writing Ansible by Red Hat or similar technologies
Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline
Understanding of various subscriptions modules, including cloud-based subscription
