The Red Hat IT team is looking for a Senior Software Applications Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work as a member of a fast-paced and collaborative IT Business Process Management team that helps provide business process automation as a service for other enterprise level workflows. You will work on the design, development, testing, documentation, and release of enterprise solutions that conform to enterprise design patterns. You'll also contribute to the team's capabilities and deliverables by mentoring junior team members, demonstrating technical skills, personal initiative, creativity, learning, sharing, and teamwork while collaborating with local and remote team members, as well as external groups.
Primary job responsibilities
Work on a highly dynamic IT Service-Oriented Architecture (“SOA”) Services team focused on cloud technologies and the development of RESTful Application Program Interfaces (APIs).
Collaborate with both local and remote team members to document, design, develop, test, release, and maintain enterprise middleware solutions.
Design, develop, test, and maintain Linux-based scripts, as well as REST and SOAP services for internal and external customers.
Prepare test plans, documentation, and deployment plans for Enterprise Service, Messaging-as-a-Service (MaaS), and Web Services both in the cloud and within datacenters.
Analyze business requirements to implement server-side business logic.
Clarify customer requirements and evaluate alternative solutions.
Design database schema, build supporting infrastructure, and develop application code.
Provide open source technical support and research open source technologies to provide leadership in developing service applications.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related role or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other closely related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role.
Must have 2.5 years of experience with: Performing object oriented analysis and design; Implementing design patterns in Java; Performing Linux administration; Utilizing Java, Oracle PL/SQL, MySQL, UML; XSLT; and performing distributed source control such as GIT or subversion.
Must have one (1) year of professional experience with: Developing applications working in an Agile development environment; Performing integration; Utilizing XML and XSD; and Open source technologies.
