Job summary

The Red Hat Management Business Unit team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the creation of system management solutions and services in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will focus on creating Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to manage the definition, configuration, and optimization of Linux-based infrastructure. Working at the intersection of a large cross-functional team, you will synthesize inputs from customers, field teams, competitive analysis, and market research to generate product roadmaps, plan portfolio integrations, lead release planning, and continually engage with development to ensure successful product releases. You will become a representative of the overall product team, and will create confidence and excitement among customers, internal stakeholders, and the broader product team. You’ll promote accountability and leadership within the cross-functional program team, making difficult decisions and guiding the best possible outcomes.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap and delivery plan in support of solving market and customer problems

  • Prioritize technical activities of the product team, including leading feature and defect grooming processes, and be responsible for overall business and implementation aspects of software delivery for the product unit

  • Track and consolidate customer feedback, market data, and competitive solutions to ensure the creation of a differentiating product with solid market fit

  • Define and document market problems and opportunities and promote customer personas, user stories, and business cases as part of the specification of our offerings and the socialization process

  • Collaborate to align strategic and tactical roadmaps with Red Hat objectives, portfolio opportunities, and peer product strategies; own the results of team engagement, alignment, and support

  • Create and deliver product demonstrations and roadmap briefings to wide range of audiences in various forums

  • Work closely with the Product Marketing team to develop positioning and go-to-market strategies; serve as an evangelist to inform and educate the user community

  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Support, Documentation, Marketing, and other teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time and budget

Required skills

  • 10+ years of experience within product management, product marketing, or development in the software industry; 5+ years of experience within product management preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure software including operating systems, virtualization, containers, and public or private cloud

  • 3+ years leading software as a service offerings in market

  • Ability to think strategically and tactically to deliver product releases on time

  • Demonstrated record of impacting others without having direct authority over them, with the ability to cultivate team flexibility under changing conditions

  • Great written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to author blogs, develop and deliver presentations, and function as a product spokesperson

  • Solid interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams and motivate others

  • Familiarity and previous participation with agile development processes

  • Pragmatic Marketing Certification is a plus
