Support the Red Hat Procurement Team in structuring, negotiating, and closing contracts across all major spend categories. The Red Hat Procurement team is looking for a Contracts Specialist to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work with the Red Hat Legal team and Global Category Managers on the Procurement team on various expense contracts to support the needs of Red Hat stakeholders. You will support different teams within Red Hat including IT and telecom, marketing, business services, HR services, real estate, and travel. You will assess and manage risk while exercising sound legal and business judgment. As a Contract Specialist, you will need to have excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders, while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, and thorough manner. This role is ideal for a candidate with experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating procurement contracts with an understanding of the practical business risks and stakeholder needs, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Primary job responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate master agreements, ordering documents and statements of work (SOWs) for Procurement across a range of categories of offerings and industries, including software licenses and support agreements, professional services, consulting, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and cloud-based services marketing and sponsorship agreements
Assist with the standardization and implementation of global procurement processes, including templates and procedural improvements for risk assessment and contract reviews
Support and coach our global procurement team to guide the adoption of best practices and standard methods
Work with Legal, IT, and Finance teams to develop negotiation strategies and resolve contractual issues
Serve as a point of contact for contract-related questions
Provide support and assistance to Red Hat global category managers and procurement specialists
Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
5+ years of professional experience in drafting and negotiating contracts in the technology or software industry, with solid knowledge of commercial contracting law and related issues like intellectual property and licensing; experience in supporting procurement is preferred
Ability to work on your own with minimal supervision while maintaining a firm focus on problem solving while managing and mitigating risk
Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through your work experience, including the ability to explain complicated concepts in simple, audience-appropriate terms
Solid analytical skills and attention to detail
Solid interpersonal skills and ability to interact and build relationships with suppliers and stakeholders across a diverse set of functions and levels within the organization
Results-driven and experience in successfully experiencing stakeholders, while maintaining a commitment to integrity, honesty, business ethics and compliance with policies
Paralegal experience is a plus
