The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will provide an important level of technical assistance to ensure that our highly valued customers get the most out of our solutions. This position extends well beyond solution support as you will take on the role of trusted partner to our enterprise customers by offering developer-to-developer assistance for JBoss open source middleware software. You will work closely with junior and senior engineers and developers to write new code, fix and improve code, and provide highly technical solutions to support requests. Additionally, you will write patches, provide JBoss updates, and contribute ideas through participation in an open and collaborative team environment.
Primary job responsibilities
Provide a high, detailed level of technical assistance to ensure that our customers get the most out of our Red Hat JBoss Middleware solutions
Engage and collaborate with open source developers around the world
Offer developer-to-developer assistance for the Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Middleware suite
Act as the technical point of contact for a technology of your choosing within the Red Hat JBoss Middleware portfolio
Develop patches and feature requests to provide upstream to the community and downstream to customers
Advise customers on JEE architectural design decisions
Work with other open source projects to help customers integrate Red Hat solutions with their applications
10+ years of professional J2EE and JEE platform experience
Deep experience with one or several JEE technologies like JMS, Web Services, SOAP, REST, Servlets, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, Struts, teiid, metametrix, arquillian, drools, Tomcat or Datasources, FuseSource, Camel, OSGI, AMQ, Karaf, Fabric, Switchyard, Version Control, Build Tool, OpenShift, Docker
Practical experience with application server technologies, including Red Hat JBoss Middleware, IBM WebSphere, and Oracle WebLogic
Experience with databases and SQL
Solid troubleshooting and debugging skills, with a passion for problem solving and investigation
Ability and willingness to learn new open source middleware technologies
Excellent English written and verbal communications skills
Ability to communicate with customers, third party vendors, and Red Hat associates
Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science is preferred; equivalent experience within the enterprise IT sector will also be considered
Solid understanding of Java APIs and popular Java frameworks is a plus
