Job summary

The Red Hat Finance team is looking for an experienced Accountant to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and compliance related activities supporting the regional and global accounting teams.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing; create quarterly balance sheet and profit and loss (P&L) fluctuation analysis

  • Perform the expense variance analysis

  • Assist in analyzing financial data to ensure accuracy and US GAAP compliance

  • Support SOX 404 compliance testing

  • Maintain proper SOP, accounting methods and procedures

  • Prepare journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations for Intangible Assets, other assets, liabilities, Benefit liability accounts, etc.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet review package

  • Prepare external reporting schedules and work with external auditors to address issues

  • Focus on process improvement

  • Work closely with IT team to resolve any system issues

Required skills

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP

  • Highly motivated with the ability to demonstrate creative problem-solving and analytical skills within a fast-paced, deadline driven, and challenging environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, /CA/ICWAI/CA (Inter)/ICWAI (Inter)

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience with multinational company

  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word etc.)

  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP)

  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines

  • Ability to troubleshoot accounting reconciling items through deep dive analysis

  • Ability to do the analysis of accruals and record in general ledger

  • Good understanding of financial statement consolidation including FX revaluation and FX translation is preferred

  • Previous Sarbanes-Oxley exposure is a big plus
