Come make a difference in a company that's changing the world. The Red Hat Finance team is looking for a Tax Accountant to join us in Mumbai, India. In this role, you will provide tax support for the company throughout India. You’ll focus on indirect taxes up to 70% of your time and on direct taxes up to 30% of your time. As a Tax Accountant, you’ll need to come prepared to make an impact on the success of Red Hat's business. Primary job responsibilities
Compute monthly goods and services tax (GST) liability and filing of all applicable GST returns for all states in which we have operations
Perform periodic reconciliation of GST input credit as per books and as per electronic credit register
Assist in the building of a control system to avoid seepage of GST input tax credit
Ensure that all GST-related requirements are implemented and captured in the system
Comply with all GST-related filing and reporting requirements
Manage GST assessments
Manage Service tax and VAT assessments and appeals for the past
Manage appeals relating to GST, VAT, and service tax
Keep track of the latest amendments in indirect taxes and assess impact of the same on company; issue guidelines to operating associates for ensuring smooth operations and ensuring that requisite changes are made to systems and business processes in IT systems
Guide and train the finance, purchase, and sales associates in areas of indirect taxes
Explore the indirect tax area to identify and implement strategies to deliver tax effective and efficient structures
Communicate with external consultants (if any) regarding the gathering of data as required during assessments
Communicate with auditors (internal and statutory) regarding periodic audits and any ad-hoc questions or clarifications
Assist team members or consultants in routine income tax compliance, including payment of monthly tax deducted at source (TDS) liability, filing of TDS returns, advance tax, etc.
Assist team members or consultants in gathering informations or details required for any assessment
Knowledge of indirect taxes like GST, relevant tax laws, and tax-related regulations in India, including statutory requirements of corporate tax and indirect filings
Knowledge of direct tax compliance
International chartered accountant or bachelor or master of commerce degree
Ability to carry out ad hoc tax-related work as assigned
Computer-literate in spreadsheet and accounting systems, preferably Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management
Accurate, analytical, organized, and proactive; ability to work as part of a team without direct supervision
1-4 years of experience in IT enterprise solutions or software industry is a plus
System testing and implementation experience is a plus
