Job summary

The Red Hat Certification team is looking for a Certification Software Engineer to join us in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. In this role, you will maintain and facilitate the delivery of Red Hat Certified Professional (RHCP) exams. You’ll be responsible for the design and development of software and systems used to deliver and manage Red Hat Certified Professional (RHCP) exams, as well as designing and developing RHCP exam tasks for specific Red Hat technologies. As a Certification Software Engineer, you will apply the latest development technologies to a variety of issues and situations. This role can be based anywhere within EMEA. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Assist with design, development, and maintenance of RHCP exam infrastructure services, including:

  • Installation and monitoring of Red Hat individual exam kiosks

  • Remote exam supervising services

  • Back-end processing system to handle the collection, distribution, and tracking of RHCP exam results

  • Design, develop, and maintain the shared software systems and services that underlie all RHCP exams

  • Design, develop, and maintain RHCP exam tasks targeting Red Hat Middleware and Red Hat Developer solutions

Required skills

  • Ability to work in a globally distributed team

  • Extensive software development and design experience using object-oriented programming (OOP) and functional programming techniques

  • Experience with modern, enterprise-level Java including technologies like AngularJS, JEE, and Spring

  • Willingness and ability to learn and understand new and different programming languages and development techniques

  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies and techniques in different environments

  • Some Linux system management experience using Satellite, Puppet, or Ansible is a plus
