Job summary

Lead our Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Inside Solutions Architects team. The Red Hat Sales team is looking for an Associate Manager with domain expertise in either cloud or middleware to join us in Farnborough, U.K. In this role, you will help us provide remote (and occasionally on-site) technical presales support services across the entire Red Hat’s portfolio to a range of internal and external stakeholders across the EMEA region, including Red Hat’s inside sales teams, field-based solutions architects, and Red Hat’s ecosystem partners. You’ll support these stakeholders in making Red Hat the default choice for partners and customers. Primarily, you’ll work to get to the “technical win”, including educating customers and partners about Red Hat’s offerings and solutions through preparation and delivery of webinars and demos, provision of technical support at Red Hat’s and partner events, assistance with technical questions, and provision of support with RFI and RFP responses. As an Associate Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing the team to ensure that appropriate levels of skill and coverage for the entire Red Hat’s portfolio are in place, as well as for ensuring continuous improvement of all services and associated deliverables. This is a hugely varied role, ideally suited to someone currently at a senior level in a presales role who wants to retain a degree of direct responsibility, but who at the same time seeks to develop the skills and experience necessary to make it as a people manager at Red Hat.

Primary job responsibilities

  • In consultation with the line manager, define team-wide business objectives which are in line with company strategy and stakeholder requirements

  • Review current competencies and skills against the above and define plans to address any gaps

  • Confirm learning and development plans with individual team members to support the above that are also in balance with personal career objectives

  • Confirm quarterly individual objectives with individual team members that align with both business objectives and individual development plans and conduct regular progress reviews in regard to these

  • Conduct year-end performance reviews

  • Collaborate with the EMEA People (HR) team on recruitment activities

  • Provide technical presales support for either our cloud or middleware portfolios

  • Provide evaluation of our offerings and proof-of-concept support to partners and customers

  • Develop solutions demonstrations and manage the demonstration lab infrastructures from our Farnborough office

  • Assist in responding to technical inquiries from both existing and prospective customers, including RFPs and RFIs

  • Assist the engineering, marketing, and business teams with information launches about our offerings

Required skills

  • Experience with leadership, motivating a group of people to achieve agreed-upon goals

  • Solid problem-solving ability

  • Solid communication skills with an ability to adapt your messaging and content to various types of audience (both technical and non-technical)

  • Fluent written and verbal language skills in English

  • 3+ years of experience working in a technical presales, implementation, or support role on Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) or middleware projects

  • Solid working knowledge of Red Hat’s cloud or Red Hat JBoss Middleware offerings, their open source equivalents, or competitive offerings

  • Solid technical grasp of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) market technologies and trends

  • Experience working as part of a geographically distributed team is a plus

  • Red Hat Atomic Host (Kubernetes and Docker)

  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform (RDO)

  • Red Hat CloudForms (ManageIQ)

  • Red Hat Ceph Storage and Red Hat Gluster Storage

  • Ansible Tower by Red Hat

  • OpenShift by Red Hat (Origin)

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (WildFly)

  • Red Hat JBoss Fuse (FuseSource)
