Guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key financial services accounts and service provider partners. Red Hat's Financial Services Industry (FSI) Consulting team is looking for a Senior Middleware Consultant to join our fast growing team. In this role, you will interact with customers, both in person and remotely, winning their trust and the confidence of their customer engineering and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of our solutions. You’ll need to have knowledge of and significant direct experience with JEE, middleware application architectures (i.e., enterprise integration, business automation, big data, and mobility), and their supporting infrastructures. You’ll also need to have solid understanding of how to use our unique middleware applications (i.e., Red Hat JBoss Middleware, Red Hat JBoss Fuse, and OpenShift by Red Hat) for implementing custom solutions. Ideally, you should have experience with DevOps, continuous integration (CI), and cloud-based development consulting projects as well. As a Middleware Consultant, you will play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You’ll serve as a customer advocate with these teams, ensuring the delivery of the right solutions and that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. This is a remote position with weekly travel to client sites and can be located anywhere in the U.S. within close proximity to a major airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities
Deliver successful discovery, analysis, and design workshops for small to medium teams of both technical and non-technical backgrounds that shape customer use cases and architecture design decisions
Scope delivery projects and guide customers through successful pilot and production deployments
Design, create, and deliver content that enables the broader Red Hat organization to sell, service, and support our middleware solutions at scale
Work closely with product business, product engineering, consulting, support, and sales teams to ensure excellent customer experience with Red Hat's offerings
Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk
Demonstrate expertise in the middleware community by producing outstanding whitepapers, webinars, etc., and by speaking at industry leading conferences
Travel up to 75%
Background in architecting, designing, and implementing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain
4+ years of experience in a senior development, technical lead, solutions architecture, or enterprise architecture role
2+ years of experience focused on application maintenance and their supporting infrastructures
Solid background in consultative customer engagement with either a major consulting services organization or within the services division of a major software company
Proven record of working in a strategic advisory capacity with senior developers, IT, and business executives
Broad and deep technical experience with virtualization and middleware technologies like Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP), Red Hat JBoss BRMS, Red Hat JBoss Fuse, OpenShift by Red Hat, or equivalent technologies
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple offerings and services
Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
Solid balance of strategic and tactical skills; high level of intellectual agility and creativity
Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with open source communities via screen shares, email, Slack, and IRC
Ability to study on your own and quickly learn and put into practice new knowledge
Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation
Willingness to travel weekly to customer locations throughout the U.S. and Canada
Experience across one or more vertical industry areas is a plus
Experience working in a quality assurance (QA) role or working with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools is a plus
