Join us in our effort to provide guidance and support to software developers developing .NET applications in Linux. The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a skilled Microsoft and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) expert to join us as a Software Maintenance Engineer in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will provide an important level of technical assistance helping our enterprise customers develop and deploy their .NET applications in a Linux environment. You’ll extend well beyond product support as you will take on the role of trusted adviser to enterprise developers and IT professionals developing and deploying .NET applications. You will also work with the upstream .NET community as well as engineers within Red Hat and Microsoft to support our mutual customers and to develop the Microsoft .NET core component. This position will require an engineer with initiative and is a tremendous chance to become part of a fast-paced, innovative company that is changing the way software is developed, sold, and supported.
Primary job responsibilities
Troubleshoot networking related issues for systems running .NET in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or in the Azure or Linux environment
Troubleshoot Linux environment issues that may affect a .NET deployment
Learn new technologies and provide white papers, and KBase articles pushing technical knowledge out to our customers and the community
Provide a high, detailed level of technical assistance to ensure that our customers get the most out of our solutions
Engage and collaborate with open source developers around the world
Offer developer-to-developer assistance to .NET developers working in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment
Work alongside Red Hat and Microsoft developers to provide highly technical solutions to our enterprise customers
Help our enterprise customers by helping to harden and develop the .NET core component
Act as the technical contact organizing people across different teams to achieve an objective
Advise customers on different architectures and design patterns with .NET
Work with other open source projects to help customers integrate their .NET environment
Software development experience
Thorough knowledge of computer networks with the ability to troubleshoot issues with web servers
Deep experience with Microsoft operating systems and .NET
Good knowledge of the Microsoft .NET architecture with working experience with .NET and Linux
Solid debugging skills and passion for problem solving and investigation
Ability and willingness to learn new open source technologies
Very clear and effective English communications skills
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with customers, third party vendors, and Red Hat associates
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science is preferred; equivalent experience within the enterprise IT sector will also be considered
C# or VB.NET coding skills is a plus
