Job summary

Join the biggest and most innovative open source company in the world. The Red Hat Middleware Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech republic. In this role, you’ll join the Thorntail team (formerly WildFly Swarm), the top notch engineering group, and collaborate on cloud native Java development. Your job will include working with the Eclipse MicroProfile project, implementing and extending its capabilities within the open source project, and ultimately integrating into our product offering, notebly the (RHOAR). We’ll expect you to be passionate about open source, have an enterprise Java background with a desire to apply your experience to Microservices, Eclipse MicroProfile, and the future Java cloud based architectures.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Play an active part in developing various aspects of the Thorntail project and its related offering Red Hat OpenShift Application Runtimes (RHOAR)

  • Learn, grow, and expand our engagement with cloud native development and the Eclipse MicroProfile effort

  • Engage and collaborate with both internal and external communities

  • Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers on the design and architecture of our offerings

  • Work with our Red Hat's global customer support team and partner support teams on resolving customer issues

  • Publicize the team's work through blogs, web postings, and conference talks

Required skills

  • 1-3 years of Java programming experience, including Java EE APIs

  • Understanding core principles behind a cloud based application

  • General knowledge of Git, Maven, and Jenkins

  • Great verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Knowledge of modern enterprise and microservices development; experienced with open source projects and engagement

  • Positive attitude and desire to share ideas openly

  • Demonstrated ability to work on your own, especially for remote candidates

  • Passion for open source is an advantage

  • Experience with Microservices, DevOps, MicroProfile is a plus
