Make a difference in the way our serverless architecture solutions and services based on the Apache OpenWhisk project work and are built. The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you'll gain deep understanding of a complete portfolio of our solutions and the related technologies, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), OpenShift by Red Hat, and the rest of Red Hat's Middleware portfolio. You will make sure our solutions fulfill the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, and supportability criteria compared to competing offerings. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will serve as the last instance before applications are released to the public. You'll serve as a mentor to other team members and advise them on creating and implementing test plans, researching new features, and developing automated tests. We'll need you to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change and the willingness to learn new things.
Primary job responsibilities
Work with the complete OpenShift by Red Hat and Serverless solutions portfolio and be actively involved in and responsible for the delivery of Serverless
Create and review test and sprint plans and suggest improvements for product planning processes
Develop new automated tests design and develop new test frameworks and automation, and analyze current solutions and suggest improvements
Evaluate all relevant information from QE (e.g., history of finding and fixing issues in a product or project) and help to make decisions on planning and triage meetings
Help your team gather customer use cases to identify most troubling components by talking to program managers and solutions architects
Serve as a point of contact for other team members and help guide them to effectively resolve issues with testing; participate in QE goals and make sure deliverables are met by all of QE
Prepare action plans for release testing and supervise its implementation
Contribute features and tests upstream and give technical presentations at conferences
Help team lead to delegate and support the team working on Serverless; serve as a temporary team lead in times of need
Mentor more junior team members; share testing techniques, strategies, and best practices with all team members
Work in close cooperation with the engineering team in an agile development process
Excellent skills and background in Linux
Knowledge of Scala, Go, Java and interest in learning new languages; well-versed in trends and technologies in container building, operation, and orchestration
Ability to build solid relations in the team and encourage other team members to do the same; ability to lead by example
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
Well-versed in solutions available for coding tests, new automation, and knowledge about their pluses and minuses; ability to perform code reviews and suggest enhancements based on best practices
Ability to assist in analyzing customer issues and guide other team members through performing root cause analysis; excellent abilities in discovering issues and performing root causes across subsystems and products
Ability to write whole test plans with all the necessary items which should be present; ability to identify gaps in current test coverage and close them and suggest and implement improvements to current test process
Experience with performance testing large scale applications is a plus
Familiarity with Kafka, Nginx, and CouchDB is an advantage
