Job summary

Tackle interesting problems across a new technology. The Red Hat Support team is looking for a skilled engineer to join our Quay team as a Senior Technical Support Engineer in Brisbane, Australia. In this role, you will support customers of Quay, which is a container registry that stores, builds, analyzes, and distributes container images and an established, market-leading solution with both Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and on-premises offerings that are used and loved by customers around the world. You’ll partner closely with Red Hat’s development teams and work alongside some of the brightest developers in the open source community. Primary job responsibilities

  • Understand, troubleshoot, and debug customer issues to ensure that they are able to get full value from Red Hat's Quay offering

  • Guide customer-facing support cases to resolution, exceed customer expectations, and provide outstanding customer service

  • Develop and apply your engineering experience to understand, troubleshoot, and debug customer issues to ensure that they are able to get the full value from the OpenShift by Red Hat offering

  • Maintain technical knowledge of all aspects of our technology and market

  • Share your knowledge gained from troubleshooting issues by contributing to the global Red Hat knowledge management system

  • Maintain a commitment to providing the best experience possible for Red Hat’s customers

Required skills

  • Exceptional software troubleshooting skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Ability and desire to quickly learn new languages and technologies

  • Upstream involvement in open source projects like patches submitted for upstream inclusion is a plus

Knowledge of or experience with the following technologies:

  • OpenShift by Red Hat, Docker, Kubernetes, or other container tools

  • Containers and container orchestration

  • Ruby, Python, or Bash

  • JavaScript and Go ecosystems

  • N-tier web applications

  • Relational databases and SQL

  • HTTP and Web Servers (NGINX)

  • SSL/TLS certificates

  • RESTful APIs and single-page applications (SPAs)

  • Distributed source control tools like Git or Mercurial
