Job summary

Become a key member of our OpenShift team and focus on standardization of containers, including working around Red Hat Container Catalog, Kubernetes, and OpenShift by Red Hat environment. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Senior UI Engineer to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will enhance our container management strategy. You’ll need to have passion for technology and development, balanced with the responsibility for running a hosted service and supporting a solution. You’ll help us build a team and service that will change how development is done, using the power of Red Hat’s technologies and services hosted in the cloud. As a Senior UI Engineer, you'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment, with the goal of making our end users and customers more effective with every release.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineers on OpenShift by Red Hat and Red Hat Container Catalog to provide seamless developer experience

  • Work with user experience (UX) designers to bring user interface (UI) designs from concept to implementation through rapid prototyping and evaluation of design ideas

  • Implement UIs with clean, responsive, and accessible JavaScript as needed to support design vision using React and Redux

  • Work closely with designers during brainstorming, design reviews, and iteration of UI improvement

  • Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat and with the open source community

  • Use your excellent communication skills to communicate with other OpenShift by Red Hat engineers, product managers, and management across the globe

  • Serve as an engineering contributor to Red Hat Container Catalog and OpenShift by Red Hat to deliver the functionality needed

  • Work in a fast-paced environment

  • Communicate with end users through IRC, forums, and email

Required skills

  • 5-10 years of experience in enterprise software development

  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to directly interact with customers

  • Previous experience building web applications using JavaScript with ReactJS or AngularJS

  • Ability to create robust web applications from visual concepts, wireframes, and interactive product design sessions

  • Ability to work with the following technologies on a day-to-day basis

  • Ability to learn quickly, in particular Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora, working with technologies like cgroups and SELinux and everything containers and Kubernetes-related

  • Full stack experience and passion for front-end development

Familiarity with one of the following:

  • Upstream communities

  • Ruby and Bash scripting

  • Go

  • Python
