Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Support team is looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Support Engineer with .NET experience to join us in Barcelona, Spain. In this role, you will collaborate with our customers' top developers and architects, understanding, troubleshooting, and guiding complex and challenging issues to resolution. You’ll partner closely with Red Hat development engineering teams and work alongside some of the brightest developers in the open source community. As a Senior Technical Support Engineer, you will work with some of the industry's most innovative technologies, OpenShift by Red Hat, Docker, and Kubernetes, and use and expand your knowledge of networking, performance, and storage. You’ll need to have excellent teamwork and communication skills, as you will be part of a dynamic and diverse team working around the world to create the most value for our customers and partners.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Use your Engineering experience to understand, troubleshoot, and debug customer issues to ensure that customers are able to get full value from the OpenShift by Red Hat offering

  • Guide customer-facing support cases, exceed customer expectations, and provide outstanding customer service

  • Maintain technical knowledge of all aspects of our technology and market

  • Share your knowledge gained from troubleshooting issues by contributing to the global Red Hat knowledge management system

  • Work closely with Red Hat’s development engineering teams and assist production support engineers and technical account managers

  • Maintain a commitment to providing the best experience possible for Red Hat’s customers

Required skills

  • Deep knowledge of the .NET Framework

  • Solid software engineering experience with multiple programming languages and experience writing patches and pull requests

  • Knowledge of OpenShift by Red Hat, Docker, Kubernetes, or other container tools

  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn new languages and technologies

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within the enterprise IT

Knowledge of the following is considered a plus:

  • Containers, Docker, and Kubernetes

  • Linux or Unix operating systems

  • Performance troubleshooting

  • Networking and software-defined networking (SDN)

  • Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments (public and private cloud), e.g., Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Clustering and high availability

  • Virtualization

  • Node.js, Ruby (web frameworks), or Python (web frameworks)

  • Upstream involvement in open source projects like patches submitted for upstream inclusion is a plus
