Job summary

The Red Hat Gluster Storage team is looking for an Associate Quality Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will develop automated tests for a functional area of a solution within our extensive portfolio of innovative storage technologies. To do so successfully, you'll first need to understand the solution's architecture and how it integrates with other offerings. You will serve as an individual contributor of the team and interact with other team members and developers. As an Associate Quality Engineer, you will get the opportunity to make significant contributions and improvements to Red Hat's quality engineering (QE) processes and infrastructure while also participating in upstream testing efforts in the open source community.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop and execute functional, integration, usability, and scale tests

  • Analyze and prioritize quality risks posed by the offering in development and determine the tests required to mitigate these risks

  • Clearly document new bugs and advocate their resolution with developers and communicate their impact on customers and their businesses

  • Develop tests using automation infrastructure and available scripting languages

  • Contribute to weekly team meetings

  • Participate in reviews and design discussions of our offerings with the leadership

  • Provide an accurate and timely status of manual and automated testing efforts and quality statistics to the product leadership team

  • Collaborate with software developers, support teams, documentation teams and other storage automation team members

  • Constantly learn new things and maintain an overview of current technologies

  • Help develop the community automation testing framework and enhance the coverage by adding more tests to the existing suite

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or computer science with 1-3 years of related experience and training; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered

  • Professional experience with Linux or UNIX systems

  • Active scripting and programming skills using Python and Bash

  • Familiarity with virtualization and cloud computing technologies
