The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will help us maintain our exceptional quality standards while developing complex infrastructure and providing support to a large community of developers and quality engineers. You'll also promote continuous integration (CI) infrastructure improvements to enhance system stability, reporting capabilities, and user experience. As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll need to have significant experience in quality engineering, software development, release engineering, and system administration.
Primary job responsibilities
Implement CI and continuous delivery (CD) pipeline with the use of Jenkins servers
Enhance and maintain the reliability of a global CI environment
Design, enhance, and maintain the CI tool set and infrastructure
Define CI test strategies, methodologies, processes, and procedures
Investigate and recommend CI tools and associated infrastructure pieces to support the CI methodology, process, and procedures
Debug and isolate faults in our offerings in complex integration environments
Provide technical leadership on highly complex system administration activities
Maintain updated technical documentation, e.g., environment diagrams, workflows, and processes
Analyze metrics and data to refine and improve the CI processes
Bachelor's degree in IT or computer science with 7+ years of related experience and training; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
Contributor to open source Jenkins plugins
Expertise with CI systems like Jenkins
Good working knowledge of current CI tools and technologies and the ability to quickly learn and use new tools and technologies
Experience with source code control tools like Git and GitHub
Advanced development and scripting abilities in Python, Perl, Bash, Ruby, or Java
Proven experience with the Linux operating system
Good system understanding and problem-solving capabilities
Solid innovation skills and passion for technology
Ability to work on your own in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Experience with configuration management tools, e.g. Puppet, Ansible by Red Hat, and Chef
Knowledge of monitoring tools like Nagios and Graphite and static analysis tools
Familiarity with virtualization, cloud, and storage technologies
